Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), a Navratna PSE, is the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant – the country’s first shore-based integrated steel plant at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. RINL has completed the current phase of Expansion & Modernization for enhancing the capacity to 7.3 Mtpa from the initial capacity of 3 Mtpa. The company has a reputation as a quality steel producer, and with secondary refining facilities installed under expansion, the capability to produce high end value added steel has increased. Main activities of RINL include production of steel products in the longs category and marketing them through a wide marketing network of 5 Regional offices, 24 Branch Sales Offices and 23 Stockyards across the country. RINL, with an exclusive product mix of longs is the second largest producer of bars and rods in the country with a market share of 9.6% in 2017-18. The products of RINL-VSP include rounds, structural’s, bars, wire rods, blooms & billets and pig iron and the company also markets the resultant by-products like coal chemicals (Ammonium Sulphate, Benzol products etc.) and slag. The company has one subsidiary, Eastern Investment Limited (EIL) with 51% shareholding, which in turn has 2 subsidiaries, M/s Orissa Mineral Development Company Ltd (OMDC) and M/s Bisra Stone lime Company Ltd (BSLC). RINL is also setting up a Forged Wheel plant at Rail Coach Factory, Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh based on assured off take for High Speed Trains of Indian Railways and reducing dependence on imports.

CMD, RINL

Atul Bhatt assumed the charge of CMD, RINL on September 14, 2021. Prior to this, he served as CMD, MECON, a Ranchi based PSU since October, 2016. Shri Bhatt is an engineering graduate from IIT-Delhi and obtained his post-graduation in Management from IIM-Kolkata. Prior to joining MECON , he was Executive Director Business Development & Corporate Planning) in NMDC Ltd. And was instrumental in formulating Strategic Management Plan-2025 of the company . He also served in Arcelor Mittal as General Manager (M&A) based in London, UK and as Country Manager (Iran) based in Tehran for a number of years.
